How to clean a Mother of Pearl Spoon?

Mother of Pearl Spoon can be cleaned with warm water and soap, preferably plant-based or castile soap.  The whole MOP spoon is made from one seashell, which can be freely immersed in water. 

MOP spoon can also be wiped with a damp microfiber cloth to avoid scratching of its delicate and fragile surface. 

How to preserve a Mother of Pearl Spoon?
